Cafe

Our cafe is now open, serving homemade cakes, tarts and lunch from midday. We’ll generally be doing a soup with homemade bread and a savoury tart of some sort, although as we make it all fresh everyday with what we have, there could be some surprises.

We make everything from scratch – all the cakes, bread, tarts, soup and biscuits are created here in our kitchen. We do not buy in bread, or soup, or anything else, apart from sponge cakes from our friend Margot as hers are, frankly, unbeatable. And we’ve got a lovely espresso machine (a Fiorenzato Ducale for those of you that are interested) that pumps out silky smooth coffee, and we’ve found superb teas from The Canton Tea Company.

A year of collecting vintage china has given us a rather splendid assortment of antique drinking vessels, from French espresso cups to ornate silver teapots, which we use to serve drinks. Sit inside the cafe, outside on the deck with a view of the River Dart or tuck yourself away in the 30s inspired summerhouse, with its antique Lloyd Loom chairs and bespoke cushions from Art & Mabel.

Download our menu here, and pop in to see us sometime.

Congrats to you both and the logo designer, of course. You deserve a medal for your determination to go through with the “takeover” or was it sheer obstinance!!?? Chris and I wish you all the very best, success and happiness in good measure and we will certainly support you as and when we can. Lots of love from us both. Chris and Claire

Just looked to see if your cafe was open yet – best of luck with it.
Maple floor sounds good enough for funky tea-dances!

      Hello Andy,
Not so sunny this week – actually, it’s been pouring all day. Typical August. Still, that’s why we built a cafe so you don’t have to stand around in the rain.
Do you ever head back to the UK?

We had tea and cakes overlooking the river on Easter Saturday – excellent! The menu looked great and we shall be back, just as well we only live a few miles away. We’ll be telling our friends, too!
    Best wishes

    Stuart and Sue
